JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

The Junior Championship runs to the same format as the Sprint Championship. There is a minimum height at each event depending on the track, please enquire with the tracks directly.

The Sprint Championship is the top level of racing in SRK. It's aimed at the top rental kart drivers in the country and features fast, fair racing in short sprint heats followed by ABC style finals.

All drivers race against each other in the heats in which drivers will be allocated a front, middle, and back grid position. The results across all heats decides starting positions for the finals after which the class winners are decided. The format is designed to allow for non-stop action and the most popular format across rental karting by far!

Format

5 minute practice

3 x sprint heats

ABC style finals (winner of lower finals progresses)

Age limit

The Junior championship is designed for drivers aged 13-16. Drivers aged 17 years old are permitted to race in the Junior Championship events for an additional year if they are under 55kg (if they are too light to race in the main sprints of 80kg+).

Drivers aged 15 years old are permitted to race in Sprint Championship events as long as they have a minimum body weight of 65kg (no ballast). This is to avoid lighter drivers adding an unsafe amount of ballast.

Weight Limit

Drivers must be a minimum weight of 55kg to compete, if you are under this, you can add ballast to make the minimum. This is to ensure fairness as lighter drivers can pull ahead on those straights!

Teams

The Teams Championship runs alongside the Drivers Championship and is free to enter. Much like F1, drivers will score points for their respective teams while racing individually. Each team can consist of 2-4 drivers with the ability to add a 5th driver to a round 3 times throughout the season. The 2 highest scorers from each round create the team score for that round.
